2012 Mobius Awards - 2012 Mobius Awards

Mobius Awards is an international advertising, design and creativity competition recognizing outstanding work from professionals and students in the following:

The competition began in 1971 and attracts entrants from the U.S. and around the world annually. Judges located throughout the world use a point system to decide which entries receive awards. The point system means that more than one entry can receive the same award or that no award might be given in some instances.

The competition is open to consumer and business-to-business advertising, Student work and Spec. work. Entries must have been created, produced, published, marketed, launched, screened or aired or reintroduced from October 1, 2011, through October 1, 2012. The entry deadline is October 1, 2012.

General Information

    • ENTRY DEADLINE: The entry deadline is October 1, 2012.
    • ELIGIBILITY – DATE OF PRODUCTION/FIRST USE: The competition is open to consumer and business-to-business advertising and package design created, produced, published, marketed, launched, screened or aired or reintroduced from October 1, 2011, through October 1, 2012.
    • CONFIRMATION OF ENTRY: An acknowledgement letter will be sent by email to each entrant once the entry materials and payment have been processed.
    • WITHDRAWING AN ENTRY: Within 24 hours of finalization, an entry may be withdrawn (subject to a US$100 processing fee, see REFUND POLICY). Entry withdrawal requests must be received via email to KristenGluckman@mobiusawards.com within 24 hours of finalization.
    • REFUND POLICY: Refunds are only issued for entries withdrawn within 24 hours of finalization, and subject to a US$100 processing fee. Refunds will NOT be issued for entries withdrawn after 24 hours of finalization.
    • JUDGING RESULTS: Judging Results will be se sent by email to each entrant in early January 2013. Judging results will not be released until all entry fees have been paid in full.

Entry Guidelines

    • PURPOSE/INTENT STATEMENT: Because the intended audiences (consumers, etc.) have different perspectives, judges can best evaluate your entry if you provide a description of its audience (age, gender, etc.) and the marketing objectives. Also, include any special details such as choice of words or graphics that reflect cultural subtleties. This information is required in the online entry system, and is included with your entry for judging. Please keep the purpose/intent statement length to 75 words.
    • RETURN OF ENTRIES: Physical entries will not be returned unless specifically requested at the time of entry. The entrant is responsible for all return shipping charges.
    • LANGUAGE: Entries must be submitted in English or have an English translation.
    • MULTIPLE ENTRIES: Entries may be made in multiple categories and media types. A new entry must be created for each category and/or media.
    • USE OF ENTRIES: Entrants allow entries to be viewed for judging purposes and permit winning entries to be aired to public audiences and/or shown on television for promotion and publicity purposes with the entrant assuming any broadcast, union, talent, or rights fees, if applicable.
    • LIABILITY: Every reasonable care will be used to protect entries from damage or loss, but Mobius Awards, Ltd., its management or judging committees cannot assume liability for either.

Distribution of Awards

    • AWARDS: All awards will be engraved / printed and presented to the name of the entrant’s organization, NOT the name of the entrant contact. Awards will be shipped to the entrant at the entrant’s expense beginning in February 2013.
    • DUPLICATE AWARDS: Duplicate awards for any year may be purchased at any time. Duplicates can be personalized in an individual’s name as long as the person was credited to the entry.

    2. Mobius Awards Entry System
      The 2012 Mobius Awards entry system is powered by BEAM.TV. If you are already a BEAM.TV user, use your BEAM.TV login and password. If not, create a free account at http://www.beam.tv/awards/login/mobius2012. Click on “New User” and provide your email address. You will then receive the password that will allow you to login and begin the Mobius Awards entry process.
    3. Entrant Contact Information
      The entrant contact name will not appear on any Awards.

      • Pending Entries
        When an entry has been created, it will appear under the Pending tab. The Status indicates if an entry is Ready or Not Ready to be finalized. Entries that are Not Ready cannot be selected for finalization (i.e., no Select box). In most cases, entries that have the Not Ready status are awaiting attachment.
    5. Finalize Entry(s)
      Please finalize all your entries at one time. Click on the Select box for each entry, and click the Finalize button. The entries will now appear under the Finalized tab.

      For entries with file uploads (Video, Audio, URL):
      Click Accept on the Charges – BEAM.TV Delivery Summary page.
      NOTE: There is NO additional charge for digital file uploads (Standard Delivery = US$0). The Season Pass Upgrade is an OPTIONAL one-time payment which includes unlimited digital delivery (for up to 1 year) to all other awards competitions in the BEAM.TV system. For further information on the Season Pass Upgrade, please contact Beam directly at awards@beam.tv.
    6. Additional Entries
      You may now log out of the entry system. Additional entries can be created and finalized at any time up until the competition closes.
    7. Payment
      After finalization of the entries, you will then receive an Entry Summary Email with instructions for the immediate payment to Mobius Awards. The email includes the link to pay by credit card and additional instructions on how to pay by check or Bank Transfer.
    8. Shipping (for physical entries only)
      If you have any physical entries (i.e., Brochure/Book – Physical, Direct – Physical, All Package Design), they should be received in our office within 7 days of finalization. We recommend shipping via air courier, not post.

    9. Entry Acknowledgment
      Entries will be acknowledged and confirmed via email once your Mobius Awards entry fees have been paid, and physical entries (if applicable) have been received in our office. Review the entry acknowledgment email and make any necessary corrections (e.g., Title, Contact Information, etc.).

High School or College students may enter work done for a class project, an internship or just for the purpose of entering this competition as long as they are part-time or fulltime students. Work from an internship is eligible as long as it was not used by the agency for a client. An exception is work done for a student newspaper, radio station, television station or club.

The entry can be the work of one student or of a group of students. If done by a group, all credits must be included with the entry. Those who recently graduated (within the past year) may also enter the student competition if the entry was created while the entrant was a student, and it meets all the other entry requirements.

All Mobius Awards Rules & Regulations, Entry Material Specifications, Categories, Media Types, Fees, Payment and Shipping instructions apply to Student Entrants. In addition, Student entrants must have an advisor or faculty member verify in writing that the work is original. This verification must be submitted along with a copy of the entrant’s (or entrants’) valid student ID upon request of the competition’s executive director.
