Denton Designs scores with wrestling book promotion
LOS ANGELES, CALIF., USA -- Mark Denton Design of London captured three First Place Mobius awards and a Second Place Certificate of Outstanding Creativity in the 2007 international Mobius Awards for advertising.
The agency was among 12 UK agencies who won a total of 27 awards.
Two of the awards to Mark Denton, a First Place Mobius and a Certificate, were for a press campaign for the book “Lucha Loco,” which celebrates the heroes of Mexican wrestling in photographs by Malcolm Venville.
The book launched in November, and Mark Denton Design was charged with creating a bold press campaign to get it attention for the prime Christmas-book-selling period. The company recruited writer Paul Silburn and art director Dave Dye to assist company CEO and creative director Mark Denton in the project.
Denton has more than 30 years in design and advertising and also is a partner and commercials director at Therapy Films. He won two Mobius First Place awards for the logos treatment folder developed for Therapy as part of a new initiative to highlight the company’s expertise in all aspects of virals from creative development to production.
Both used the mad monkey icon that has become Therapy’s symbol and mascot. For the logos, illustrator CF Payne gave the monkey a virus.
The brief for the Therapy treatment folder was to incorporate an irreverent and memorable identity that would dramatise the company name and amuse clients at the same time. The information was presented in the form of a medical file featuring the monkey in a Napoleon hat.
